Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer after-hours or emergency on-call services?
If you believe you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to your closest emergency room.
For non-emergent issues, the patient portal is available 24 hours per day. Portal messages are typically reviewed and responded to within 24 hours.
Flexible Mind is a small outpatient private practice. A limited number of new patients are accepted based on the current resources and time available to provide attentive care. If there is planned time away, a banner will be posted on this website and a message will be sent to current, active patients.

Fees are set based on the type of service provided. A detailed fee list is available upon request by email, text, or phone. I do not charge a monthly or concierge fee.

I choose to offer a level of care that just isn’t accessible in an insurance-based model. Out-of-network providers are free to practice without the time constraints and administrative burdens often imposed by insurance companies. In order to provide this high level of personalized care, the practice does not participate in any health insurance plans.
We are happy to provide a “superbill” that you can submit to your plan to seek reimbursement for out-of-network services.
Full payment for service is due prior to each visit. Through the patient portal of our electronic health record, you can conveniently pay by credit, debit, or FSA card.

This depends on many factors. Most insurance plans will reimburse for some portion of covered services once your deductible is met.
If you plan to submit superbills for potential reimbursement, contact your plan to find out details about coverage and your deductible. Ask about these common billing codes that may be listed on your superbill: 99205 (initial visit only), 99214, and 99213. There are additional codes that may be used, but these will help you to get an idea of your potential reimbursement.

We are conveniently located near downtown Bethesda/Chevy Chase at 6900 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite 303, ~5-6 blocks from the Bethesda Red Line Metro station.
There is a free parking garage across the street at Trader Joe’s/Target. Another garage behind our building can be accessed via Bradley Blvd- follow the signs for Petsmart/Staples. That garage charges a fee, though Petsmart & Staples provide 2-hour validation.
Outside of rush hour, there are 1 & 2-hour metered parking spots along Wisconsin Avenue and limited 1-hour metered spots all day on Stratford Road.

Patients should expect to return to clinic approximately 2–4 weeks after their initial visit for a follow-up, and then approximately monthly, depending upon their individual needs, the severity and complexity of their symptoms, and their overall progress.
Most patients do well, and after a few follow-ups they enter the maintenance phase of treatment, in which they require only check-ups and refills; at this point in treatment, patients are invited to return to clinic about once every 3 months.
Individuals who take Schedule II controlled substances that cannot be refilled and patients who take certain sedative-hypnotic agents for anxiety and/or insomnia must initially return to see me once a month. If we are no longer making changes to their medication regimen and they are doing well enough to enter the maintenance phase of treatment, these patients are required to return for a face-to-face re-evaluation once every 2-3 months.
All patients are encouraged to meet with me online at least quarterly (four times a year). I am always able to accommodate existing patients on short notice when necessary.
If it has been more than 3 months since the last visit, an appointment will need to be scheduled before any medication is refilled. If it has been more than 6 months since the last appointment, an extended visit (55minutes) will be required.

Video visits are available as needed for established patients when they are at home or work in Maryland, Vermont, Virginia, or Washington, DC. There are some exceptions for other states for college students or others temporarily away from home. Please inquire.
All new patient visits are conducted in the calm environment of my Chevy Chase office. While I appreciate the convenience of telemedicine, in-person care allows for a more holistic evaluation and the establishment of a deeper connection.
